Antony hopeful Edwin van der Sar intervention will help seal Man Utd move

The representatives of Antony are trying to persuade Ajax CEO Edwin van der Sar to convince board members to green-light a transfer to Manchester United, 90min understands.

Ajax rejected a €90m offer from United on Friday as they continue to hold out for a club-record fee, with the Red Devils roughly €2m from meeting that threshold.

Antony delivered a bombshell interview later that evening pleading with the Dutch champions to let him leave, and work is continuing behind the scenes to push forward a deal.

90min understands that Antony’s party are trying to persuade former United goalkeeper Van der Sar to push other board members into sanctioning a deal.

The ex-Netherlands goalkeeper made a similar intervention to finalise Lisandro Martinez’s move to Old Trafford earlier this summer.
